Oven Roasted Nashville Hot Chicken

In most authentic Nashville Hot Chicken recipes, the chicken is deep fried. Like most people, we enjoy a nice, hot piece of fried chicken. Our goal, however, is to prepare and enjoy our favorite meals in a healthier way.

With our Nashville Hot Chicken Seasoning, we added a burst of flavor and heat to this basic recipe for crispy baked chicken. Traditionally served with bread, pickles, and a cayenne oil paste, we opted for a green salad and drizzled olive oil over the top.

Ingredients

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 425 degrees
  2. Prepare 3 shallow dishes, each large enough for 1-2 pieces of chicken.
  3. In the first dish, add the flour.
  4. In the second dish, whisk together the egg, buttermilk and 1 teaspoon of Nashville Hot Chicken Seasoning.
  5. In the third dish, mix together the Panko crumbs and 1 teaspoon of Nashville Hot Chicken Seasoning
  6. Take a chicken breast, put it in the flour, cover completely and shake off any extra before moving to the next dish.
  7. Dip the chicken in the egg and buttermilk mixture.
  8. Move the chicken to the third dish and cover completely with the Panko crumbs.
  9. Place the breaded chicken on a non stick baking sheet.
  10. Continue with each piece of chicken until all of the chicken is breaded - discard all remaining ingredients from the 3 dishes.
  11. Bake for 25-30 minutes or until a meat thermometer reads 165 degrees.
  12. Remove chicken from the oven and rest for 10 minutes.
  13. In a small skillet, heat olive oil and remaining 1 teaspoon of Nashville Hot Chicken Seasoning.
  14. Drizzle hot oil evenly over chicken before serving.
